Everything you need to run successful price experiments

Getting Started

Set up your first price experiment in under 5 minutes

1. Install RevPilot

Install RevPilot from the Shopify App Store. Click "Add app" and authorize the requested permissions.

2. Create your first experiment

Go to Dashboard → Create Experiment. Select "Product Price" as the experiment type.

3. Select products

Use the product picker to search and select the products you want to test.

4. Set price variants

Define 2-4 price points to test. We recommend a 10-20% range from your current price.

5. Launch

Review your settings and click "Start Experiment". Traffic will automatically split between variants.

Product Price Testing

A/B test your product prices to find the optimal price point

1. Choose the right products

Select products with consistent traffic (at least 100 views/week) for faster results.

2. Set meaningful price variants

Test prices that would meaningfully impact your business. A $1 difference on a $100 product won't tell you much.

3. Run for sufficient duration

Allow at least 14 days for statistical significance. Don't stop early based on initial trends.

4. Interpret results

Focus on revenue per visitor, not just conversion rate. A lower price might convert better but make less money.

Shipping Threshold Testing

Find the optimal free shipping threshold to maximize AOV

1. Understand the trade-off

Lower thresholds increase conversions but reduce margin. Higher thresholds boost AOV but may hurt conversions.

2. Calculate your break-even

Know your average shipping cost. Your threshold should be high enough to absorb this cost profitably.

3. Test strategically

Start with variants around your current AOV. If AOV is $45, test $39, $49, and $59 thresholds.

4. Measure total revenue

The best threshold maximizes total revenue, not just order count or AOV in isolation.

AI Insights

Understand and act on AI-powered recommendations

1. Confidence scores

Higher confidence (80%+) means the AI is more certain about the recommendation. Act on high-confidence insights.

2. Revenue projections

Projections are based on your experiment data. They assume traffic remains consistent.

3. When to wait

If AI suggests "more data needed", continue running the experiment. Early insights may not be reliable.

4. Applying recommendations

Use the "Apply Winner" button to implement the AI's suggested price across your store.

Statistical Significance

Understanding when your results are trustworthy

1. What is statistical significance?

It tells you how confident you can be that results aren't due to random chance. We use 95% confidence.

2. The progress bar

The significance meter shows progress toward 95% confidence. Green means you can trust the results.

3. Sample size matters

More orders = more reliable results. Low-traffic products take longer to reach significance.

4. Don't peek too often

Checking results daily and acting on trends leads to false conclusions. Wait for the green light.

API Reference

Integrate RevPilot programmatically

RevPilot provides a REST API for advanced integrations. All endpoints require authentication via Shopify session tokens.

Best Practices

  • Run only one experiment per product at a time to avoid confounding results
  • Avoid running price experiments during major sales events or holidays
  • Document your hypotheses before starting - this helps interpret results objectively
  • Re-run experiments periodically - optimal prices change over time
